Are the poisons you use safe for my pets (dogs and cats)?

Yes absolutely!

We have looked after Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary for the last 20 years.  All our Technicians are extremely well trained in the correct chemical dispersal and will speak with you about your animal’s safety, prior to any work commencing.

We will often ask you to contain your pet in a particular area whilst the remainder of the property is treated and then ask you to move your pet so that we can treat the last, remaining area.

Are the poisons you use safe for my children?

Yes absolutely!

All our chemicals are APVMA registered and we follow the correct protocols for the application of the chemical.

Our Company looks after a number of Child Care Centres, Schools and Family Day Care homes.

Do you offer natural treatments (no chemicals)?

We recommend that non-chemical methods are used in conjunction with our treatments.

Non-chemical methods may include removal of webs using a broomstick, keeping hedging/ gardens cut back and away from the building, ensuring your bins are emptied and cleaned regularly and dishes are washed up straight after use.

Making sure that pet food bowls are cleaned out daily and emptied of any remaining food.

All our chemicals are APVMA registered and we follow the labels exactly as to the recommended application method.

In our experience, the use of non chemical treatments alone, do not solve the pest issue.

DIY & Advice

Why do I need a pest inpection?

Home insurance does not cover termite damage.  Termite damage can cause hundreds of thousands of dollars damage to your house if left undetected.

Regular, twelve-monthly visual termite inspections can detect the early signs of termite activity and can be treated before it becomes a massive cost to the Client.

With the introduction of Australian Standard 3660.2-2017 ( Termite Management Part 2: In and around existing buildings and structures), annual termite inspections are now considered mandatory under this STandard.

Regular general Pest Treatments for cockroaches, rodents, and other pests will also prevent infestations which can cause serious health issues for you and your family.

Do I have to do a building and pest inspection?

Although not required by law, why would you not? Your home is probably going to be your biggest monetary investment.  A pre-purchase inspection can determine whether there are any issues at the property which could cost you a fortune, once you purchase the property.

A pre-purchase inspection is a way to identify any issues, prior to buying the home and ensuring that you are not making a huge mistake when purchasing your property.  An

independent Inspection is always advisable – don’t just rely on a report provided by the Agent trying to sell you the property.

How do I know if I have termites?

Often the paint or wall will have a ‘rippled’ or ‘bubbled effect. It may be blistered or sagging or cracked along the skirting boards, ceiling or floorboards.

It may also be soft to touch or have a hollow sound when you tap on it.  Evidence of mud ‘tubes’ along the outside of your house.  Tubes may look like they are made from dirt or mud.

Power may often short circuit at your house.  You may notice a swarm of ‘winged ants’ – these are called alates and are a strong indication that termite colonies are present around your house.

What if I see spiders soon after your treatment?

Depending on the amount of spiders and the type (the treatment is for webbing spiders only and does not work on huntsman, or non- webbing spiders), you can call our office to discuss a retreatment of the areas you are finding the spiders.

Please contact us via phone (07) 3297 5754

What if I see a pest after you have just serviced my premise?

Depending on the pest, we recommend that you contact our office to discuss.

Sometimes it does take a few days for the chemical to become effective eg. Ant infestations can sometimes appear worse for a few days after the treatment, as the chemical is working its way through the colony in order to eliminate it.

Rodent treatments don’t work instantly as the rodents have to consume the bait.  This may take a few days.

If you continue to see pests following your treatment, it is always best to contact the Office to discuss.

How do I prevent Mice/rats entering my house?

It is important to ensure that all possible entry points are sealed.  This includes the pipes coming up under your kitchen/ bathroom/ laundry sink.

Make sure that all your windows and doors close properly and do not have a gap at the base of your door.  Store foods in glass or metal containers with tight lids and make sure that you dispose of all left over food as soon as possible.

If you have a pet, make sure you feed them and then remove any leftover food.  Don’t allow the food to sit there all day.  If you have chickens, chances are that you will have rats/ mice.

A preventative or maintenance program is highly recommended.  This may involve placing rodent stations (fully lockable and secured) around your property, near the chicken coop.  It is important to check stations regularly, as empty stations will not help reduce the rodent population.

How do I prevent termites?

Ensure that there are no conducive conditions – things such as leaking taps or hot water systems. Remove gardens from against external walls.

Make sure there is no mulch against the house. Weepholes should be fully exposed (at least 75mm from ground level). Use of treated timber/ cement sleepers/ hebel blocks when landscaping.

The less timber, the less chance of termites foraging. Ensure that all timber that shows signs of decay, is removed. Don’t store goods or have pot plants against external walls. Don’t store firewood against the house.

The best way to prevent termites is to have regular inspections by a qualified Technician.

How do I deal with bird mites?

It is important to identify that the problem is bird mites.  Once identified, find and remove any bird nests (often nests can be found in the roof void, wall cavities, around porches and on window ledges).

Once nest has been removed, a licenced Pest Technician should be called in to treat the infested areas with an approved insecticide.

It’s important to try and prevent birds from returning to the area – this may mean sealing gaps into the roof void; placing bird spikes along window ledges etc.  If bird mites are coming from chickens, it is important to treat nesting boxes with an approved insecticide treatment.
